Flying Event - Getting ready!
PHOTO: Verdun Hayes, a D-Day veteran and great-grandfather from southern England, recently became the oldest person in the world to sky-dive – at the age of 101years and 38 days. He took the plunge along with three generations of his family. The family feat raised more than $2,000 for the Royal British Legion. He yelled ‘Horray!’ upon landing and felt ‘absolutely over the moon’ after completing the jump. "He flies through the air with the greatest of ease, the daring young man on the flying trapeze..."! I used to sing that song when I was a young man but didn't really think of "flying through the air" attached to another person until a few years ago. All of a sudden it seemed that everyone was jumping out of planes, attached to someone else of course! Why even a former president did it, and today I saw where an "elderly" dude in England has just done it at the ripe age of "101 years and 34 days" old! Well, by now, you may have guessed that I am going to celebrate my 80th birthday on June 3rd by jumping out of a plane, oh yes ... attached to another person! One close friend of mine does think it is a stupid thing to do (his comment is, "why would anyone want to jump out of a perfectly good plane?") BUT, I am still praying he will have a powerful dream before the big day and change his mind! We will also be THREE generations as well as several friends. All three of my sons and one of our grandsons, are jumping with me along with a spiritual son who is flying up from Chile for the big event. A waitress friend from Beaumont is coming to jump with us as well!! Numerous others are coming also, so if you would like to join us just give me a call, a text or an email and we will send you the details! I wanted to do it wearing just an American flag Speedo BUT alas, the rules are that you have to be completely covered! Oh well, that is a small price to pay for such a glorious moment!
